Hou Ba Tian feels like he is cursed: Shorter than most, he is also cowardly, and anything but a shining star in the workplace. What’s more, everything good in his life appears to come with an eight-day time limit: Just eight days after finding a new job, he is fired by his disappointed boss. Just eight days after starting a new relationship, his girlfriend dumps him. No matter what he tries, he cannot seem to find long-term satisfaction or success. Meanwhile, Meng Po Er is also down on her luck. Although she is tall and good-looking, she has just been robbed. She is then thrown out of her house and is eventually forced to take a job at a street food vendors’ stall. Hou Ba Tian visits the stall to drink and eat and saves her from what appears to be an altercation with a customer. The down-on-their-luck duo decides to join forces, and Hou Ba Tian agrees to allow Meng Po Er to live with him – if she agrees to do all the housework! Could their fortunes change for the better? Will Hou Ba Tian break his eight-day curse? And could love blossom for this odd couple?

Yes, I am back at it with another random drama. I can’t even begin to explain what goes through my mind when I pick these things. I don’t even know how I made it through all 12 episodes because this was by far the most ridiculous drama I watched this month lmfao. I know this got a very poor rating across drama sites, but I really think that with a description like this and what is very clearly a low budget webdrama, y’all were asking for too much.
This is the type of drama where you leave logic at the door and just let things be. The story was very inconsistent and jumbled, but you could see what they were trying to do. I actually thought the idea of this 8 day curse could’ve been a very interesting concept if adapted correctly. Maybe in another life we shall see someone take this concept and actually create a drama that is made to be serious. We’ve seen it done with slight variations before so it is very possible.
The acting wasn’t good, but I don’t think it was supposed to be? I mean, I got the distinct impression that it was created that way for shits and giggles. They constantly broke the fourth wall! Hhaha. Also let’s not even begin to touch the blatant product placement that they tell you that they’re allowed to do because it is their drama. No, I am not lying, this is actually a scene in the 2nd or 3rd episode. So while the comedic part of this romantic comedy was covered with exaggerations, so was the romance part. I will be 100% honest, they were a weird couple. Even in the last episode were she decided to lie and he was like “love means not caring” I was just like.. umm okay…
I could be very critical of this drama if I wanted to as it is overall pretty bad at almost everything that it tries to do, but it still is enjoyable for what it is. If you’re in the mood for something dumb while you’re drunk and wanna just criticize/hate watch then this is it. I will say one thing for sure, this drama gave me a new Taiwanese singer to check out!
