Lazy Unnie’s Playlist: GOT7 – Got7

TITLE: GOT7

ARTIST: GOT7

LABEL: Warner Music Korea

RELEASED: May 23, 2022

The freeness is real! GOT7 has finally reassembled like the best avengers group and we are graced with a wonderful new EP. Gotta give the boys a listen and some love.

NANANA – Title Track

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I don’t know how I feel about this song. I love it but also don’t at the same time. I find myself really liking the easy vibe it has. It’s a nice smooth song for the summer as well. But I also love a more hard-hitting GOT7. This feels like a song I can chill to at the beach.

Feels like I’m watching one long ass TikTok and I like it.

Truth

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Groovier than the title track but I don’t think it is a strong enough track to contend with the catchiness of NANANA. What this song does do is highlight how GOT7 doesn’t have to do the most to have a decent song.

Drive Me To The Moon

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This feels more like a JayB/JJ Project song being sung by GOT7. I do like how fun and bright the song sounds. But the moment it ends, I forget about it.

Two

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Now it is a JUS2 song being sung. It’s a more sexy groove than the previous tracks and really makes me miss the duo of JayB and Yugyeom.

Don’t Care About Me

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

We’ve made it to the more hip-hop track. I don’t hate it. It has a more trap sound but quickly transforms into a more synth sound by the chorus. I actually can fucks with this song it is more of a soft thud than a hard hit.

Don’t Leave Me Alone

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I am in love with this song. It’s the hook for me. That melody just is perfect and makes the song really stand out among the rest of the EP. And everyone really sounds amazing on it. No one outshines the other but Jinyoung and Youngjae are probably the closest with the chorus.

BONUS

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Just cause I love their chemistry we must watch.

FINAL THOUGHTS

There are no bad songs. Some boring but nothing is poorly produced. It feels like this was a promise kept between the members and fans and they delivered. GOT7 is going nowhere regardless of how many lanes they go down. It did have a little of a rushed feel because this felt like it was in more of Jay B’s wheelhouse than others. But overall I thought it was a decent release and really proud of them for taking the reigns of their career the way they have. Most are not doing it like GOT7 and kudos to them.
