Peaches – Title Track
I… I guess it’s a hip-hop song but something about it just doesn’t sound good. Okay, that is a little harsh. It’s not bad, it’s just dull. The song just feels like it doesn’t have much of a personality other than trying to sound like a Justin Bieber knock-off. I have faith that Kai could have done way better than this.
Vanilla
This song really reflects its title. The song is really vanilla. No big pops of flavor. I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing.
Domino
I’m addicted to the low tone in this. Not sure if it’s really Kai’s but if it is, yum. It really juxtaposes the soft tone singing that Kai has in the verses. But I really like the R&B/Hip-Hop sound on him. Definitely an ass-shaking track.
Come In
I love the synth groove style of this song. The chorus really makes this song a highlight. And it fits the tone of Kai’s voice really well. The song doesn’t really do magical things, but it’s a decent middle-of-the-road song.
To Be Honest
The only way I can describe this song is it feels as good as it does to eat a cold peach. It’s sweet and refreshing.
Blue
R&B lo-fi but done nice. When Kai sings in a lower tone it feels like his sweet spot. It also has somewhat of a neo-soul vibe to it. I’m a fan.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Do I think this mini was needed? Yes, because I’m a fan of content. Do I think this was amazing? Not at all. I think this was Kai just reinforcing the sound he has decided for himself. I would have liked him to do something a little different from his first mini but I guess this was. This was more lo-fi, background kind of music. Basically, it was more of a romanticized version of what he already has put out. This album was basically the equivalent of a not quite ripe peach. Not really sweet, a little tough to bite into but the juice is still there.
