Lazy Unnie’s Playlist: ENHYPEN – DIMENSION: ANSWER

TITLE: DIMENSION: ANSWER

ARTIST: ENHYPEN

LABEL: Belift Entertainment

RELEASED: January 10, 2022

Let me start off by saying, I thought this was going to be a new album. So when I started listening, I was wondering why it had the same tracks from Dimension: Dilemma. Then it dawned on me that this was a repackage! Enough of my blonde moment, let me get into this album because I have a lot of feelings.

Blessed-Cursed – Title Track

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I am really liking this song. It feels like a mashup of something current with an air of older K-Pop vibes circa B.A.P. It also helps that this MV is something out of an *NSYNC fever dream. The song could have been a little longer for me but I really enjoyed it.

Intro: Whiteout

Rating: 0.5 out of 5.

Weird and the vibes don’t really set up the feel of the album. Just… weird. But nice to hear Jake’s Australian accent.

Tamed-Dashed

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Originally I didn’t like this song. It felt like a short story in the sense that it was starting in the middle and came in hot. But it grew on me. The song really stays at a 10 the whole time but I guess that is the charm of it.

Upper Side Dreamin

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a party R&B track and I love that for them. I could have seen this kind of song done by TXT but the groovier vibe is good. It feels like an upbeat version of Fever.

Just a Little Bit

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I LOVE THIS! I keep coming back to this soft acoustic R&B vibe track. I love a falsetto when it’s done right and this song is filled with them. Their tones and harmonies make me fall in love with them over and over.

Go Big or Go Home

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

We know I’m obsessed with songs that give me that 90’s club vibe. And when I say this song is just that, I mean this should come with a couple of glowsticks to really rave out to. It’s a fun dance track that is great to just jump around to.

Blockbuster (feat. Yeonjun of TXT)

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I love when groups add a little rock influence to their songs. This feels like a track that would fit in a videogame perfectly. Also… anything with Yeonjun is good so, I like it. The chorus is my favorite part.

Attention, Please!

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Another track that has a ’90s-’00s influence. This time it is more pop-punk, think Avril or Blink-182. The more rock sound makes this song sound very youthful and age-appropriate for the group.

Interlude: Question

Rating: 1 out of 5.

Better than the intro but still like a weird stock sound.

Polaroid Love

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

This actually doesn’t fit with the album. I get that it is a repackage track but it feels displaced with the sound of the others and feels like it was just thrown in the mix. It’s very lite f.m corny.

Outro: Day 2

Rating: 1.5 out of 5.

Best of the three terrible tracks. I don’t think they were really needed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

At the end of the day, I feel like some of the best music coming from the HYBE camp is from Enhypen, TXT, and Seventeen. What Enhypen is doing is similar to TXT in the sense of being a new group with a sound that is nostalgic but not dated. There were times when I wondered if these kids were ready to debut but I’ve noticed, especially with this album and repackage, that on the site training seems to be working for them. They get better and better at performing.
