MYDRAMALIST
We know the drill, I start off the year well and then trickle down to nothing. Anyway, let’s appreciate what I’m working with while I’m working with it ok? Okay. On to the review!
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to review part one of this drama because it’s basically just the set up for the other half. I mean, there isn’t really a lot to discuss in terms of a complete story realization, but if we focus on the foundation then I can say that we’re getting some damn good appetizer. I’ve always been a sucker for revenge stories and even more when it’s a woman seeking revenge. The way I cringed almost immediately when we saw the students bullying Moon Dong Eun and the freaking curling iron! Netflix is so wrong for having that being one of the posters/screengrabs. What is with these children in Asian dramas and committing attempted murder? Cause that shit ain’t no regular degular bullying. I also appreciate that she’s hell bent on getting her revenge, love connections be damned! Although, if we’re keeping it a buck, imma need her to just go ahead and fuck Ha Do Yeong.. I know y’all see all that chemistry. That’s not to say I don’t absolutely love Joo Yeo Jeong because dammit Lee Do Hyun is just so fucking perfect in every damn role.
Speaking of perfect for roles, I’m sorry but the way Ms. Lim Ji Yeon is eating doowwnn??! Nah she’s giving a psychotic rich bitch masterclass right now. I’m very concerned by how well Park Sung Hoon is playing this unhinged, lovelorn fool. The way I was a bit turned on during the scene where he confronted her about (redacted) .. Don’t worry, I booked an appointment with my therapist after that. Special mentions to Shin Ye Eun and Yeom Hye Ran because they really stood out. Ye Eun because I just love when she plays an antagonistic role rather than a poor little thing and Hye Ran for dipping into her Joe Goldberg bag with the black hat disguises. That’s not to say this isn’t the best thing I’ve seen Song Hye Kyo in, but idk about a daesang worthy performance.
I enjoyed the directing and the writing thus far. We also have the acting, it’s looking good guys. I know this is hyped cause it’s a Netflix Original, but I agree this time y’all! Also, please don’t remind me that this is a KES drama.. I’m already having a hard time coming to terms with that. Check out part one and then wait like a crack addict or Lee Sa Ra, if you please… Give me part two, NOW!
