Something Spooky This Way Comes #1 – Hocus Pocus Fancast

Hellooooo.. Have you missed us? I bet you have I mean hellooo it is us after all. So … I, Sugar Baby Unnie, have a confession to make…. I am obsessed with the month of October. Fuck Summer, fuck Winter, fuck Spring! Fall is where it is at and the best month of Fall is October because there are oversized sweaters, pumpkin spiced lattes, apple picking, pumpkin bread, haunted hay rides, corn mazes, halloween and MY BIRTHDAY. What does Christmas have to offer other than egg nog and Christmas music? Sorry Jesus.

So anyways to commemorate the excellence that is October, Lazy Unnie and myself have decided to bless your souls with a spooktacular feature! ‘Something Spooky This Way Comes’. We have a total of five posts planned (including this one) so let’s have some fun!

Hocus Pocus

Everyone knows the cult classic Hocus Pocus which coincidentally came out the year I was born. Therefore, it logically made sense that we chose this movie to fancast. I sincerely watch this movie every Halloween without fail because it is just that good. Matter of fact, I don’t think October can be officially started until this movie has been watched. Freeform is about to play this all day everyday and I am not mad about it.

Plot summary:

After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches’ book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.

Heheheh. As usual, there were a lot of bickering back and forth between Lazy Unnie and myself before I won as I am a bully. Mwah! Enjoy!

Casting Call

Ra Mi Ran as Winifred “Winnie” Sanderson

I think that Mi Ran is one of the most talent actresses that currently exists in Korean entertainment. She wastes no time in completely immersing in all her roles. If there is someone that can bring the awesomeness of Winnie alive and give Bette Midler a run for her money, it’s her. I recently caught her in Girl Cops (review coming soon) and she’s so freaking awesome.

Son San as Mary Sanderson

Son San playing Mary? YES PLEASE. Talented to boot and so freaking funny too. Catch her in her most recent drama, Secret Life of My Secretary and Doctor John where she absolutely killed it.

Han Sun Hwa as Sarah Sanderson

Sun Hwa may not be the strongest actress of this bunch, but if we’re honest, neither is Sarah Jessica Parker really. Sun Hwa can certainly make a convincing Sarah and bonus points to the fact that she was in a kpop group and can therefore ‘sing’ enough to give us this iconic song.

Nam Da Reum as Max Dennison

nam-da-reum2

I can’t count the number of times that Da Reum has absolutely demolished his older counterparts when it comes to a role. I am looking forward to see his transition to the adult roles because for sure, he is a force to be reckoned with. Casting him as Max is us doing the world the greatest service ever. TAKE THAT GRETA!

Kal So Won as Dani Dennison

It’s such a shame that idols are saturating all the current kdrama roles, they better count their lucky stars that talents such as So Won, have not reached the age where they can snatch their roles. She is freaking cute to boot and would definitely capture the essence of Dani’s character.. I mean look how she ate the role of Guem Sa Wol!

Kim Hwan Hee as Allison Watts

Can you believe Allison of all people was the hardest for us to pick? Its likely due to the fact that Allison is so dreadfully dull. No offense Hwan Hee, but I mean you’ve already played Da Reum’s sister so may as well play his love interest as well!

Kwak Dong Yeon as Thackery Binx

Every time I see Dong Yeon in a role I feel like he is a dependable guy. Therefore, I have no doubt he will do justice by Thackery. I also look forward to see his new main role in the upcoming weekend drama.

Lee Kwang Soo as Billy Butcherson

Kwang Soo has such perfect comedic timing and is such a great actor that we’re fairly certain he would re-invent and revitalize this character. It would go down in history and these are just plain true facts.

Jung Hae Kyung as Dave Dennison

In all honesty, I, Sugar Baby, am the one who picked him and it’s because I feel like he’s pretty consistent in playing useless father figures. #SorryNotSorry

Kim Hee Jung as Jenny Dennison

I really enjoy seeing Kim Hee Jung in her roles and because of that I get the ‘fun mom’ vibe and I think she could do Jenny well enough. Hehehe.

Lee Han Seo as Emily Binx

Here is someone else who is going to absolutely tear shit up when she gets older. I still recall how touched I was the very first time I ever saw her and she made such a good impression. Although Emily doesn’t play the biggest role in this I can guarantee that with Han Seo as the actress, she will become a scene stealer.

Seo Young Joo as Ernie “Ice”

Young Joo is an actor I’ve enjoyed seeing transition into more prominent roles. I think a role such as this one would be good to add to his resume and I am very certain he would do a really good job.

Yoo In Soo as Jay

Heheeh In Soo, I swear I am not typecasting you but I just thought you were so adorably cute while being the school tyrant in At Eighteen that I absolutely had to include you here as Jay hehe..
