Title Track – memeM
This song is proof to me that stockholm syndrome is real because initially I was like eh about this mainly because it was just so UP and DOWN and all around. It was the lack of consistency with the releases that I found slightly irritating also I think the MV had me very distracted. However, by the time the fifth listen came around, I came around. Now, I don’t find this to be amazing, but I can enjoy it as a pumped up song. I don’t like the way the chorus sounds, but the post chorus really works and Swan in the second verse is giving. I’m off to watch some performance videos!
B-Sides
Illusion
They always pop off with their intros! I am sorry tell me in what way this does not eat? I especially love their performance videos because Dosie is so engaging.
Oh My Gosh
Easy to listen with a very classic sound. Not much really to it, in terms of production or vocals. Pleasantly enjoyable. It’s one of the more forgettable songs on the album to me, personally.
Pretty Psycho
THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING. IMMEDIATELY LOVED IT AND I JUST KEEP LOVING IT MORE AND MORE AS TIME GOES ON. It has a hook that draws you in, the instrumental is so simple but that one string literally takes you through the song. The added vocal manipulations are excellent. One thing I could do without was yuki’s rap but not enough to turn me off in its entirety.
JOAH
You know I love the girls’ natural vocals so when they go with a subdued vocal heavy song, I will never complain. This is also a very classic soft pop song that you find on minis. The best part was the rap, I love that it was more of a sing style and I think this is when Yuki shines.
Hate me, Hurt me, Love me
Another instant favorite. There isn’t anything that is different about this song, it is so straightforward but perhaps that is what makes it so good. I feel reminiscent of the times when groups weren’t doing to much pandering either way. I also love every element of the song. Very OhMyGirl in nature.
Cursor
Would marry Swan’s voice if I could. I am so sorry, but I could listen to her all day every day. I know Goeun will probably get the first solo, but umm spare a OST for Swan please??? Oh yeah the song itself is very sweet and soft.
Final Thoughts
This album in comparison to the others didn’t do much to get me excited. I think that it’s time for them to truly figure out what their main concept will be. That being said, this album provided me with a new top three song from them. I know we can always expect dependable music from them, but let’s spice it up (in a good way).
